The Precor EFX 245 receives rave reviews from the experts, as it offers a lot of what you expect at this price point...something a few of the other models in this series do not.
For starters, it is the only Energy series model with a touch screen, which makes it much more user friendly and more like the machines you use in the gym.
Another bonus is the motorized CrossRamp technology, found in the the EFX 225 elliptical but not the other two models in the series. The 245 and 225 have 8 levels of incline...the others have just 3 manual positions.
The Precor EFX 245 also has a lot more workouts than the other models. You get 25 presets as well as 16 personalized. That's a lot of variety. The other three models, including the EFX 222, only give you a total of 10 preset workouts and no customizable ones.
Some of the other unique features on the 245 include Preva integration, which allows you to track and share your workout results, full audio control for your iPod and iPhone, and both touch and telemetric heart rate monitoring.
You get 16 different resistance levels, so between that and the wide variety of workouts you can really change up your routine every time you step on the machine.
The workout itself is smooth and natural, and definitely has that gym quality feel. You have both moving and fixed handlebars so you can get a full body workout or just focus on the lower body.
All in all, the Precor EFX 245 is definitely the best model in the series offering a lot more features and capabilities than the other models.
The EFX 245 is the best option in the Energy series by far. Although it is more expensive than the others, at around $4399 on sale, it gives you a lot more to work with. You get a boatload of workout programs, a touch screen, enhanced incline capability and Preva workout tracking which really helps to keep you motivated.
If you are considering this model, check out the Precision Series as well, which gives you more resistance levels and an increased CrossRamp to 40 degrees which is a big jump from the 25 degrees in the Energy Series.
