UPDATE: The ProForm 510E has been replaced with the 520E for the new year. Check out our review here.
Featuring an adjustable incline up to 20°, the front drive ProForm 510E elliptical targets different muscle groups for improved weight loss and body toning results. Along with upper body workout arms with soft-touch grips, this model features 18 digital resistance levels that can be adjusted at the touch of a button. With Silent Magnetic Resistance and an inertia enhanced flywheel, you get a quiet and smooth workout plus a number of advanced features on the console.
The 18 workouts include 8 weight loss and 8 performance programs. You also get the compatible plug-in to access iFit Live®. This web-based interactive technology features even more programs you can download, plus gives you the use of Powered by Google Maps so you can personal your own courses. Note: the optional iFit Live features requires additional purchases of a wireless adapter as well as an annual subscription.
Other features of the ProForm 510E include the hand grip heart rate monitors, oversized pedals with multiple foot positions for finding the best comfort, and an iPod/MP3 player plug-in slot with built-in speakers.
The 2012 ProForm 510E is the same design as the new NordicTrack E8.0 but sells for almost $200 less since the E8.0 comes with more program apps plus a wireless chest strap for heart rate monitoring. (Both Proform and NordicTrack ellipticals are made by Icon Fitness so you’ll find they share many of the same designs.)
There are no user reviews on this model yet, but the NordicTrack E8.0 has received some nice feedback from users who say it is a solid machine with few issues, so you can expect this like-model to offer the same performance.
The ProForm 510E elliptical is a decent machine for $599 although it won’t win many awards. For our money, we would still choose a Horizon elliptical at this budget price.
