The ProForm Pro 1500 elliptical is a front drive system that offers a big 20° incline and a negative 10° decline power ramp to give you maximum body toning and fat burning results.
The 7" backlit display shows readout information for time, speed, distance, calories burned, pulse, incline and decline. The ProForm Pro 1500 elliptical trainer comes pre-loaded with 24 workout programs, and you can opt to add even more workouts using the iFit Live™ compatible technology.
The features include:
* Requires iFit Live™ wireless adapter (sold separately).
UPDATE: The Pro 1500 is no longer being sold. You can check out all of the latest Pro series reviews here.
The ProForm Pro 1500 elliptical comes with a heavy flywheel and SMR™ Silent Magnetic Resistance — a frictionless system that provides a smooth and quiet ride. The stride length adjusts automatically as you change the power incline ramp from 10 to 20 degrees.
You can use the incline/decline feature plus the 20 resistance levels to target different muscles groups in your legs and trunk; use a lower setting for a full leg workout including the calves, while a steeper angle and higher resistance really works the glutes and quads.
The ProForm Pro 1500 can accommodate users up to 375 pounds, and features some nice perks such as a large cooling fan on the console, a plug-in port for your iPod plus integrated speakers, oversized cushioned pedals, pulse grip heart rate sensors, and handlebar controls for the ramp and resistance adjustments. A second set of handlebars moves to give you an upper body workout.
If you buy the iFit Live adapter, you can access workouts powered by Google Maps™ as well as programs designed and coached by pro trainer Jillian Michaels. You can also download other new programs and manage your personal fitness profile online at ifit.com.
When we reviewed the ProForm Pro 1500, we noticed right away that it is the same model with the same warranty as the NordicTrack Elite 12.0, which also carries an MSRP of $2299, but we saw the NordicTrack on sale for $1,299.
(Both NordicTrack and ProForm are owned by ICON Fitness and share many of the same models.) At $2300 take a pass, but if you can get it for $1300 with free shipping, then the ProForm Pro 1500 elliptical is a very attractive buy. Either the NordicTrack or the ProForm at that sale price is a good deal.
