The ProForm Smart Strider 735 is another one of ProForm’s budget models with front drive mechanisms but this one benefits from the addition of an adjustable incline.

What You Get

This model is a step up from the 535 and includes a multitude of additional features. The main addition is the adjustable incline settings allowing a change of 10 degrees to target different muscle groups at the touch of a button. There is also a 5” display monitor which is backlit to allow you to monitor your progress showing calories, time or distance using the RaceTrack™ display which is integrated into the system.

As with most other models you are able to combine the use of IFIT® as the machine is compatible with the application to allow you to customize your experience and track your progress. There are also 22 workout programs to choose from to give variance to your training and personalize the settings to suit your needs.

There isn’t much wrong with the ProForm Smart Strider 735 as there are a lot more features than other ellipticals in this price range. The biggest bonus with a trainer at this price is the addition of the adjustable incline which allows the rider to adjust up to 10 degrees to target a range of muscle groups.

The compatibility with IFIT®, not available on the entry level 535 model,  helps users keep track of their training as well as monitor progress so it makes a simple trainer appear a little more advanced in terms of technology.  You need a separate module to use this feature as well as a smart phone or tablet to view the Google map routes you can choose.

The oversized pedals are also very useful for this model to enable the user to vary their foot position to either alter the training or simply make it a more comfortable workout. However the small display keeps this model in the low end of trainers as some other models for just a bit more come with full color touchscreens which give a better experience.

The 735 is very similar to the top end 935 model, except that one has a web-enabled touch screen that the 535 and 735 do no have.  The 935 is also larger with a higher weight capacity and more workout apps.

The Smart Striders are considered entry level machines, so they are perfectly fine for basic usage and getting into shape.  However, if you serious about working out you might want to consider the PRO series.

Our Thoughts on the Smart Strider 735

This is a great budget model with lots of bang for its buck. There are some great additions like the adjustable incline as well as the use of the SpaceSaver™ design which is great because elliptical trainers tend to take up lots of room and are hard to assemble.

Being able to unpack and use within minutes is a great advantage. Its biggest let down is the small flywheel but this would be a great model for beginners.
