The Smooth EVO REV 400 elliptical is a solid commercial-quality machine designed with a heavy frame and flywheel that delivers a smooth, quiet ride. The orthopedic cushioning on the pedals, as well as ergonomic pivoting, provides maximum comfort for the user.
The Smooth EVO REV 400 elliptical has four well-lit LED display windows that show course profiles, speed, time, distance, heart rate, calories, resistance level and more. The nine pre-set programs include Targets (Time, Distance, Calories), Random, Fat Burning, Endurance, Interval, Watt Control, HR Control, and Manual.

Some of the elliptical reviews on the EVO REV 400 have been lukewarm this year but only because Smooth didn’t upgrade it much from its former incarnation, the Smooth CE 3.2 elliptical (discontinued). That model made several best buy lists – including our own.
The Smooth EVO Rev 400 is the same rear flywheel trainer with a roomy 18" stride, HR sensors on the handlebars, heavy flywheel, 300-lb user capacity, and an attractive console. The ergonomic pivoting foot pedals keep your lower body in alignment to mimic natural movement and reduce strain on the joints.
Customers have been pleased with their purchase of the Smooth EVO REV 400 elliptical (as well as the former CE 3.2 model) and they say it gives them the same feel as a health club machine.
You get Free Shipping with your purchase from Smooth Fitness, but you should also take advantage of the $75 in-room delivery, or opt for the $199 White Glove Delivery that includes assembly. While the unit is heavy, it is not hard to put together if you follow the instructions, so the in-room delivery is your best bet.
Smooth made a good elliptical warranty even better by increasing the parts & electronics warranty on the EVO REV 400 from 2 to 3 years, and the labor service from 1 year to 2 years.
Since its predecessor had outstanding performance reports with little down time, the extension on the warranty is a reasonable risk for Smooth Fitness.
The company has kept it a basic fitness machine and didn’t add any bells & whistles (like an mp3 port and speakers, for example) on the console that other models now offer.
Yet while it isn’t a flashy unit, it is still a solid elliptical. If you can buy it on sale for $1,399, the Smooth EVO REV 400 elliptical is a Good Buy.
